We are rapidly approaching my 1 year anniversary in this glorious online book community and in honor of my infiltration into this corner of the internet, I figured we’ll do a Meet the Book Blogger post today.

Hi, I’m Stephanie

Or stephlivesinpages on social media.

I was a long-time lurker of the online book community, mostly on Instagram because I was not on TikTok. I actually never wanted to join TikTok because once upon a time I spent way too much time on Vine and figured it would be a similar thing with TikTok. Spoiler alert, I was right, but TikTok has ultimately changed my life and continues to do so.

I will be forever grateful for the opportunities and people I’ve met through this app and community.

Random facts about me

I am a lover of traveling, reading, good naps, tacos, and pizza. My dogs are everything to me. My son is the best thing that’s ever happened to me and I strive to be a better person because of him. I also do not post him on the internet often but you will catch him in my Instagram stories every now and then.

I love music, all of it, and I get a special shot of serotonin when a book I’ve read has a Spotify playlist made by the author.

Colored Christmas lights are my favorite color, glitter, black, and pink, and when the sunset is beautiful after a soul-nourishing day.

I want to see everything, experience everything, go everywhere, and do it all. I wish I could live 1000 years so I could have a billion different professions and smash all the things into my lifetime.

When I started this blog it was going to be a mom blog but I just didn’t love it so it sat stagnant for a while. Then I wanted to blog about mental health but that was a heavy subject, and an important one, but I also never want my advice to be misconstrued as medical advice, so I shifted away from that.

Random Fact: the blog was called Shorthairs and Long Naps when I first started. My dogs are German Shorthaired Pointers.

Finally, we’ve landed on book blogging and I LOVE it so much. I do have lifestyle sections on here where I can slap in a random post every now and then, but creating book content truly lights me up in a way I would’ve never anticipated.

Mental Health is still a very important topic to me and you will still find me advocating for it across my platforms. I suffered from Postpartum Depression which led to me realizing I had undiagnosed anxiety and depression, and through medication and therapy, my mental health and personal development have changed wildly.

I love to spend time with people and go do fun stuff but at the same time, I could sit in my house for a solid month and be totally fine.

Bookish facts about me

My favorite book series is Zodiac Academy. Darius Acrux is the best book boyfriend of all the book boyfriends. The Twisted Sisters write book characters, friendships, and relationships that make me feel things I don’t think any other author has accomplished for me. I am going to be giving away an annotated copy of Heartless Sky so make sure you’re following me on TikTok and Instagram so you don’t miss out.

I prefer paperback over hardcover.

I didn’t understand any of the BookTok lingo when I first joined and I didn’t even know what a trope was.

I love to recreate food and drink that I read about in books. It’s a very weird, specific hyper fixation of mine and I’ve always been this way. I also do this with TV shows and movies.

Finding friends who love the same books as you is a special kind of friendship that the internet has blessed me with again and again.

I mostly read on the Kindle app on my phone

Before I joined BookTok I was considering selling my physical books and only having EBooks. That has since changed since reading ZA and needing the physical books

Zodiac Academy was the first series that I immediately reread after finishing and the first series I read on Kindle Unlimited that I NEEDED the physical books of.

I only started listening to audiobooks this year and I love them. I didn’t think I would.

I’m writing a book and have always wanted to but it’s so much harder than I anticipated.

I have a YouTube channel that I started with the goal of filming Indie Bookstores and have also started interviewing Indie Authors

We’ll wrap it up for now

December 22 marks one year on BookTok. My goal for that platform was to have 1,00 followers by the end of 2022 and I surpassed that and there are over 6,000 besties hanging out with me over there.

I’ve loved every second of being a part of this community and I can’t wait to see what the coming year has in store.
