1. What is your favorite book?

Well, I’m so glad you asked. My favorite book is Zodiac Academy and let me tell you why.

Zodiac Academy is my favorite book series of ALL FREAKIN’ TIME because it is just so beautifully complex, yet easy to read.

The authors of Zodiac Academy (ZA), Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti are literary masterminds who have created an amazing world, and beautifully developed characters, and the story is just totally gripping. I truly do not believe I’ve ever read better character development than I have in ZA.

I will say this about the sisters in general, they are so so SO good at taking you from hating a character to loving them. They’re very untrustworthy in that sense. hahaha

The book takes place in a mirror world of the United States, Solaria, and we follow the journey of Tory and Darcy, twin sisters who find out they’re not human but actually fae.

The first book is written in a dual POV of the sisters and then later books are written in multiple POVs of more characters. I LOVE this about the sisters writing. Multiple POV is just a whole different level of reading and I am here for it. It truly adds depth to the book by being able to get so many character views.

This was my first ever bully romance, I didn’t even realize that was a thing, but let me tell you…..I’m a big fan.

It’s a slow burn, get’s VERY spicy, and has wild plot twists and some of the most painful cliffhangers you’ll ever read. It’s amazing.

If you haven’t ready ZA yet, please run to kindle IMMEDIATELY and give it a shot. By book 4 I was SCREAMING, CRYING, THROWING UP, and just a total and utter mess. I was sprinting into their reader’s Facebook group because I NEEDED someone to talk to about this series. It’s so so so so so so good.

2. When did you realize you loved reading?

I loved reading from the moment I learned how to read. I don’t remember when I realized it or the book that made me love reading or anything like that. I just always loved to read. Recently while writing a blog post I realized one of the reasons I love reading so much is because it’s one of the only times my anxious brain is actually focused on one thing instead of rapid-fire obsessing over a million things at once.

I’ve only been diagnosed with anxiety and depression in the last few years, but now looking back it’s very apart I’ve been a life-long sufferer of these mental illnesses, so it now makes even more sense to me why I’ve always loved reading and escaping into a fictional world.

3. Do you love new or used books? Why?

I really don’t care to be honest. I love books in any form I can get my hands on them. I do love a good used book price but most of the books I want to read right now aren’t typically available used. I’m reading a lot of new or popular books lately.

Funnily enough, a year ago next month I will have posted on Facebook asking to borrow certain books I wanted to read because I “don’t want to buy any more books and have to store them”. Jokes on me because that was literally the starting point to getting me to where I am right now.

4. What is one book you think everyone should read?

I know you might think I’m going to say Zodiac Academy but truly I know that book is not for everyone. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea and I’m no fool to sit here and think everyone would like it.

That being said, I don’t really know which book I would say I think everyone should read. When I was in high school I read a lot of Nora Roberts and Jodi Picoult but I can’t say that there are any of their books I’d think everyone needed to read, either.

I don’t know. This is a hard question because everyone is so different so I can’t recommend a book “EVERYONE” needs to read.

5. If you could only read one trope for the rest of your life what would it be?

Enemies to lovers. Hands down. Forever and ever, amen. ENEMIES TO LOVERS, BABYYYYYYYYY.

Okay, I love this trope so much because *it’s the tension for me*

6. Who are your favorite fictional characters and why?

The twisted sisters have ruined me, okay? They write broken characters so deliciously and spin some of the most masterful character development I am just forever panting over the fictional people they cook up.

That being said, my current favorite characters are mostly written by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti.

  1. Darius Acrux
  2. Niall O’Brien
  3. Tory Vega
  4. Seth Capella
  5. Geraldine Grus
  6. Brooklyn Meadows
  7. Maverick Stone
  8. Cassian
  9. Nesta Archeron

I think that’s it for now. Don’t get me wrong, I fall in love with a billion characters out of every book I read, but we’ll be here forever if I go through them all. Plus, an annoying fact about me is I usually forget the characters’ names once I’ve finished a book and moved on to the next one.

I’m not going to go through each one of these characters and explain why I love them, so we’ll settle for a couple.

Darius Acrux has THE BEST CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT I’ve read to date. Point me in the direction of a better character ARC. You can’t. And we can fight it out and say Seth Capella is better, but I disagree, even though Seth is also a wildly amazing character that stuns me TO THIS DAY how they took me from loathing his very existence on paper to wishing he was a real human being to snuggle with.

I love Darius because he’s just such a misunderstood little love bug and I go absolutely FERAL anytime smoke leaves his dang mouth, OKAY.

7. Who is an author you’d love to spend the day with and why?

I have three authors I’d love to spend a day with.

First, Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti. They’re a package duo, right? These sisters have ruined my life but also changed my life because without having ever read Zodiac Academy I wouldn’t have sprinted my dragon-lovin’ booty onto the online book community in the first place. I needed someone to talk about Zodiac Academy because I couldn’t STOP talking about it and here I am. It’s amazing.

Next, Nora Roberts would be so amazing to be able to spend some time with. I am a big, big, BIG Nora fan and some of my favorite series to this day are still books of hers. Nora Roberts is phenomenal and getting you to feel all the things, which is something I adore about it and she writes love like no other. If you ever want to fall madly in love, read a Nora Roberts book.

Here are a couple of my favorites:

The Cousins O’Dwyer Trilogy quite possibly is my favorite of all time. It’s so beautifully written and had me wanting to run my butt to Ireland so bad. It is also a great spooky, witchy vibes book to read this fall.

8. Describe your ideal reading day

I love this question so much.

Okay, so if we’re talking morning, I would love a crisp, quiet fall morning. Even better if we’re at a cabin in the mountains. I’d want to wear my comfiest outfit imaginable including a ginormous sweatshirt, no bra of course, and a fluff-tastic blanket. I’d be drinking coffee with some sort of delicious creamer and eating a bagel with veggie cream cheese.

If this is an evening, I’m vibing with a cool summer evening, a light thunderstorm rolling in where the sun is still barely out, and the blacktop smells of rain and summer heat. I’d be drinking a watermelon la Croix and eating some sort of cheddar chips or something with cheese dip.

Ahhhhhh, beautiful, glorious reading days.

9. Ebooks, audiobooks, or physical books? Why?

There was another question I really didn’t care about and this is the same boat as that one. I don’t have a preference.

I actually mostly read from my kindle app on my phone which some people in the book community rage over, but it’s just what’s most convenient for me.

I love my kindle app for its convenience, I love physical books for the fact that who doesn’t love holding an actual book? (actually, there probably is someone out there who doesn’t lol) I just recently started listening to audiobooks which I never did previously because I struggle to focus but depending on the book, I haven’t had too much of a problem with this. I really loved listening to wicked measures by Katee Robert. It was my first audiobook that really held my attention and I devoured it. It’s very spicy and check your TWs.

10. If reading isn’t an option, what is your next favorite hobby?

Why is this such a hard question? I have so many interests but I’d really only consider reading a hobby I have. I really love online shopping, but instead of actually buying anything I just fill the cart with stuff I can’t afford. I do this so often and genuinely enjoy it hahah

I love cooking and baking, or as I prefer to call it, kitchen creating. There is something so satisfying when you make a new delicious recipe and nail it on the first try. I always want to try something new and am always searching interest for my next recipe. I love recreating recipes that I read about in books or see in shows and movies. I was fixated on Fiesta Burgers from Gilmore Girls for MONTHS.

I love traveling. Is that a hobby? I wish I could just be traveling 24/7, 365, but at the same time, I’m a huge homebody and need approximately 48 hours after human interaction to recover.

I love blasting music as loud as possible while cleaning my kitchen. I guess that’s not a hobby, but it’s something I do find joy in.
